Small surfaces of Willmore type in Riemannian manifolds

Abstract:
In this talk I investigate the interaction of small spherical surfaces which 
are stationary with respect to the Willmore functional subject to an area 
constraint and the geometry of the ambient manifold.
In particular, if a family of such surfaces concentrates on a single point, 
then this point is a critical point of the scalar curvature.
